DG Okonjo-Iweala: World “cannot afford to leave trade and WTO behind” in climate actions

An effective strategy for tackling global warming cannot be successful without governments taking into account the important role of trade in meeting climate goals, Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said on 8 November. She was speaking at a high-level event with world leaders during the COP27 climate summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to mark the launch of the WTO’s World Trade Report, which this year focuses on climate change and international trade.
