DG Okonjo-Iweala: Trade is critical in global response to climate change

Countries need to have the right trade policies in place to be able to respond to climate change, Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said on 7 November at a world leaders event during COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh. The event — entitled “When will leaders lead? The state role in mobilising and directing finance for climate and health” — was organised by University College London in collaboration with the governments of Scotland and Barbados. The session included keynote remarks from Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, and Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland.
