Environment committee draws members’ broad engagement, considers proposals to enhance work

At the meeting of the Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE) on 14-15 March, members discussed how to enhance the work of the WTO amid the rising use of trade measures for environmental objectives. Members considered various suggestions including proposals from China, Colombia, and the European Union. Members elected the new Committee chair, Ambassador José Valencia of Ecuador, at the end of the meeting.

The WTO is looking for talented, highly qualified and dynamic individuals to join the 2024 Young Professionals Programme (YPP). A call for applications is now open for the programme, which aims at providing young professionals with an opportunity to develop their skills and gain experience in the field of international trade.
